linger

Menu or Buffet: Menu
Hours: Sundays 10:00 - 2:30
Neighborhood: Lohi
Price: $9-16 for entrees
Champagne: The linger mimosa is $3

What's on the menu: Creative takes on the usual brunch fare. They change their menu fairly regularly, so check it out on their website.

What makes it special: Oh man, that patio and its city views. And the food. Much has been written about linger and Root Down, so we don't do much more recapping here.

This place will get packed, but the Denver Sunday Brunch Masters are early risers and usually manage to beat the crowds.

That looks like a giant sausage. It's actually a delicious chile relleno.

Brussels sprouts and the Breakfast Dosa.

Park & Co. is a fine and dandy little diner. It's painted dark on the inside, but there are huge windows everywhere, so it's a cozy mix of bright and shadowy.

The staff are all very friendly and attentive.

The only thing lacking from the menu is some manner of fruit. [Edited to add fruit is now listed as a said you can order.] Otherwise, this is a great middle-of-the-road brunch spot. Nothing especially thrilling, but nothing to gripe about.

What makes it special: I

The menu! Both food (a vegetarian eggs Benedict that isn't tomato and avocado) and drinks (a Bloody Mary served with a Coors sipper to cool the spiciness).

Highlights include—

  • The somewhat fancy "Bay Area" atmosphere on the inside, while watching colorful 17th Avenue on the outside.
  • The service is old school awesome, very pleasant and professional.

What makes it special:

  • Patio! The outdoor patio allows for some awesome people watching; 17th Street is usually quite a-bustle. And if the patio is full, there's probably still seating available on the secret indoor patio. (Although it's technically actually called a courtyard, we'll continue to call it a secret indoor patio.)

Grilled veggies, deviled eggs, quinoa salad

Carving station beside the omelet station.  Potatoes, meats, and other entrées are further down.

    What makes it special:

  • The live music! Dazzle is as much as a jazz club as it is a restaurant, and brunch is no exception. Being serenaded by a jazz quartet while enjoying your food takes brunch to a whole nuther level.

  • Live music!

  • The drinks! The $8 buy-in gets you limitless mimosas, bloody marys, beer, and wine, all served at the bar. Mimosas are served as a plain glass of champaign. You add your own orange or cranberry juice. (Consider adding a fresh strawberry from the dessert bar!) The bloody marys are made as spicy as you want, with V8, clamato, or regular tomato juice, and then you select your own combination of garnishes from green olives, pickles, jalapeno, celery and carrot. Fun!

Hashbrowns, eggs over greasy, and toast.

    What's on the menu:

    Huevos Rancheros
    Corn Beef Hash
    Hamburgers/Cheeseburgers

    What makes it special:

  • Time travel! No kidding, walk into 20th St. Cafe, and you'll have no doubt that some of the people sitting at the tables have been coming there since the place opened over 65 years ago. It's a Denver institution. Clippings, certificates, and proclamations adorning the walls chronicle some of the diner's history.

  • Time travel again! This time, though, I mean the amount of time that passes between when you walk in and when you get your food. It almost doesn't exist. Or, if it does you probably need special equipment to measure it.

  • Familiarity! If you've ever had a favorite, cozy, greasy spoon, no frills cafe diner, then you will immediately feel at home here.

While offering chorizo, bacon, and a beefy chili, Hi Rise has also carved out a niche for itself as one of the few restaurants in Denver catering to vegans with vegan cream cheese for bagels and rotating vegan specials including Gumbo, Sweet Potato and Chickpea soup, and a Portobello Churrasco sandwich.

What makes it special: The food (you've never had scrambled eggs this good), and the fact that it's a Denver institution. Paraphernalia on the wall tells the story of the owner's relationship with, among others, Ted Kennedy, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.

What makes it special: The Garden Spot is spacious, accommodating, and invested in its community.

The patio, site of the eponymous garden, is large and shady and so comfortable. The interior is roomy, and the windows let in a ton of sunlight.

The cafe is extremely vegetarian friendly, and is one of my favorite places simply because Morning Star vegetarian sausage is available as a side to any dish.

Paintings by a local artist adorn the walls and there are fliers for local events and local newsletters all over.

This is a true neighborhood cafe.
